Lockheed Martin Wins IT Contract to Support Ohio Site Cleanup Project
SEABROOK, Md., April 10 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Lockheed Martin (NYSE: LMT) has been selected by engineering firm CH2M Hill, Inc. to manage information resources for the Department of Energy's environmental management project at the former Mound nuclear components manufacturing facility in Miamisburg, Ohio.
Under an initial $5 million, 36-month subcontract beginning in March 2003, Lockheed Martin's Information Technology business unit will provide a full range of IT services to the site, including strategic planning; systems engineering and integration; software development; network engineering, design, and operation; information security; telecommunications engineering; computer technical support; and database administration.
Later this fiscal year, the Mound work will be administered as a managed services contract.
In December, DOE awarded CH2M Hill the contract to accelerate the projected 2006 cleanup, closure, and transition of the 306-acre Mound site for transfer to community and industrial use. The company selected Lockheed Martin in large part due to the success of its similar work at the DOE Hanford site in Richland, Wash.
At Hanford, the world's largest environmental cleanup site, Lockheed Martin provides complete Information Resource Management services for approximately 10,000 computer end users. The company helps Hanford's prime contractor track and monitor spent nuclear waste through the application of information technology. Lockheed Martin was awarded a five-year extension at Hanford last year.
Linda Gooden, president of Lockheed Martin Information Technology, said, "The DOE environmental cleanup mission is one of the most difficult, complex efforts in Government today. We are particularly proud of our past accomplishments at Hanford and delighted now to have the opportunity to bring innovative IT solutions to the Department's Miamisburg project and support CH2M Hill's efforts to bring it to satisfactory closure."
Lockheed Martin Information Technology is a business unit of Lockheed Martin providing enterprise business systems, managed services and infrastructure solutions to government agencies and commercial clients.
